The First Ubuntu Phone Won't Rely On Apps. Here's Why That's Brilliant | Fast Company

Interesting look at the new Ubuntu phone and scopes. Scopes have been around on the desktop for awhile, so not sure I’d call the idea brilliant. Scopes were on the desktop for a year or more when I left Canonical. Clever idea to use these to work around lack of apps, but let’s not act like this is some new hotness no one else thought of.

I am anxious to see how the phone fares and if people like it. It’s been a long time coming.

Full disclosure, I’m partial to Canonical’s cloud offerings from my time there and was always skeptical of the phone. I certainly hope they succeed though.
