Surprise to most of us, I think, after Google+ photos was shuttered. Sounds like a good use of Google+ now, though.
Not surprising to me. G+ really wasn’t a bad social network, despite the naysayers (myself included). It just wasn’t a good one, and it certainly had no compelling reason to use it.
Also, it came too late. Social sites are becoming more niche, more focused, or dedicated to one facet of social experience.
This is a great piece on the history between these two companies, but this also shows how important mobile is for any company today.
