iOS 7 review: looking to bigger things and swiping away the past | Technology | theguardian.com

This is a pretty fair review of iOS 7. It does compare to other phones as people want to do these days, but in a fair way. (Most of these pieces are either from Apple or Android fanboys, so the comparison is always off. This is not. It’s a fair, good look at what works and what doesn’t in iOS 7.

I don’t disagree with the sentiment that iOS 7 could be better, it definitely could. It’s just amazing to me how Android v. iOS is the new Windows v. Apple. Somehow I think iOS could be better in lots of ways besides copying Android, and likewise, Android could be better in lots of ways besides copying iOS. The tech press could be better by having an original idea as well.

(This is my 1 and only iOS v. Android rant today. You’ll now be returned to the regularly scheduled postings.)

Apple iPhone 5s and 5c: everything you need to know

A good catch-up piece if you missed the news yesterday. Though I can’t help but notice the snarky “Apple can’t innovate anymore” undercurrent in all these pieces. Apple changed the world twice with iPhone and iPad. I’m not sure it’s fair to keep asking the same of them with every product announcement.

Can An Ipad App Help Solve The Literacy Problem?

Looks interesting. I wonder if it will be good for my 6 year old (going into first grade), who already has basic literacy down but still struggles with reading when playing with apps?
