Richer gesture language for games

I’m playing way more games on my iPad and other mobile devices than on my ps3 or laptops lately. Maybe this is just a phase I’m going through. Or maybe this has real staying power for me. I’m not sure yet.

One thing I do know – I’m quite certain the gesture language for mobile games still hasn’t developed as fully as it can. By that, i mean more than swipes and taps. I mean what we do with those swipes and taps.

Lots of games use swipe to move or tap to jump or fire. Then there’s plenty of console like controls overlayed on the screen. Feels like something is missing still. Something that feels so natural in touch that we forget why we ever loved our twitch-reflex games in the first place.
